My Tach stopped working today.Iremoved the wire from the dist to check it and when a gave it a twirl between my fingers the Tach moved. So i guess my Dist gear is shoot. Its a Mallory Unilight dist. Can these things be "fixed" or do i have an excuse to by somehing better?
Mine doesn't work either. The tack turns by hand. I removed the cable from the tach and if I push the inner cable inward toward the unilite the cable turns. I think my inner cable is too short. The cable and unilite are both new. I think I'll contact these guys (http://www.centuryperformance.com) and ask about this. Let me know if you have any success.
I too have the Unilite tach drive dist. If I turn the cable by hand the needle moves. My cable also seems too short to go into the dist end. What gives...? :(
Email reply from Sam was of no help.... I guess I'll look for a different cable.... I bought the distributor from them, so I assume its correct.:smash:
Only thing I can suggest is first to make sure you have the correct distributor. Mallory makes a specific distributor for the Corvette.
The other issue would be the cable length. You would have to compare to a factory cable to see what is correct.
