Water Pump Ticking
Starting to get hot out now everyday. Noticed that when I turn on my undercharged AC system I am getting a sporatic tick sound near the water pump and also the engine temp is running 20-30 degrees hotter when the AC comp is on. I felt the upper hose, it is red hot but I can squeeze it pretty easy. Is this a sign the water pump is going or is this normal?

Try taking a piece of rubber vacuum hose or fuel line and using it like a stethiscope. I was getting some "ticking" that I thought was my WP(not the same symptoms though), and it turned out to be my fuel pump. Hold the ends of the hose to your ear and the possibly offending part, and you'll be able to tell for sure where the noise is coming from.
