Default How do you store your ttops

I am planning on making a sub box for my car and I need to know how to correctly place my tops in the back so I can make my box accordingly.

Oops forgot to mention the reason is because the box is going to go over the tops.

HA! good luck.

for me it was........ Sub box, no t-tops or t-tops with crummy stereo.

I'm biting the bullet in a few months and getting an amplified bazooka tube. that way i can still store my t-tops

only way to do it is to build a custom box....im designing a v-shaped fiberglass box right now to hold nos bottles and 2 10's and still allowing some room for the t-tops....not sure how itll turn out.....but thats ur only bet....and its not easy...

I'll try and get a picture of my setup that I just finished. The T-tops go under the sub box and the cover pulls over the box so nobody knows its there. I have a 10in sub and 2 6x9's mated to the box. The amp is hidden behind the box and has plenty of room for cooling. It looks good , i'll try and get a picture as soon as I can.

i have a HUGE box that houses a 300 watt amp, 2-6x9's and an 8" sub...
its the size of a large suitcase and my t-tops fit under it along with lots of other stuff!... :yesnod:
it CAN be done...
not long ago we took it out of town and put 2 average sized suitcases on top of it as well...wasnt too good for listening to the tunes, but they fit!
heres some pix...

I really need to work on figuring out my elec interference problem, I am betting it is the MSD box. I have 2 10" subs in the Formula and it rocks so I will be bumming when I drive the vette, gotta have tunes! :cry

Who needs tunes? Aren't the rumble of the exhaust and all the other associated driveline sounds enough music in a Vette?

I think of that as being one CD, sometimes you need to change CD's so you don't get bored. :jester

I do love it the sounds of a set of flowmaster 40's.

You don't need help. That's motorhead behavior. I'm a motorhead too. I love the sound of motors. Especially big blocks. :yesnod: :yesnod:

I pulled the radio out of mine when I first got the car. (K-mart special) hadn't put one back in since. Love the sound of the car. :steering: :D

i understand the above comments about "who needs tunes?"...
when i bought the car the first thing i did was put a $1500 system in it and shortly afterwards i realized that i found myself never turning it on cause i too loved the sound of my car instead...
well...its been a year now and what i have found is that on short rides i almost never listen to it but on longer ones, especialy interstate trips, i DO listen to it...
we OFTEN take our vette on long rides...sometimes weekend getaways...and it IS nice to have then...
and i am the kind of guy that, if i am going to listen to a stereo, i want it to sound kick azz...
so as a result, i am glad i spent the $ on it although i dont really listen to it all that much either...
one side note about my speaker box is that i wish now that i would have made it 1" shorter in height as i can not pill my shade closed and now i wish that i could...

you can see where it's notched to rest on the wheel wells. I did a test fit and it's nice and snug, doesn't move around much at all. I'm sure it won't budge one bit once it weighs 70lbs more :D

There is just enough room to squeeze the tops under it too, and they won't be moving either.
