Default Removable rear window for a 77, NEED PICS PLEASE.

OK, I'm going to put the removable rear window from a 68-72 in my 77. I have read all the old posts on this and feel comfortable doing it. My only problem is that I have never actually seen one before. I'm not sure what the latches or storage tray look like (or anything else for that matter). Could one of you guys with a digital camera go and get me a few good close-ups of the widow and all the hardware. A pic of what it's supposed to look like when its in and when its out would be helpful too. OH, and where does the storage tray go? I have read that allot of people don't use it because its noisy, I haven't decided if I want it yet.

Thanks,

I have a picture up now - but it's not very detailed. It shows the window in
place and latched - without any trim installed. I'll try foir some closeups this weekend.

I don't have the storage tray (yet). Anyway - it may get in the way of refueling. :lolg: :lolg:

NHvette, Thanks. That helps allot. I was hoping to see a pic without the trim installed. Is the handle for the latches attached to the top of the car or the window frame? What I mean is do the latches come out with the window or not?

The top latches screw into the steel birdcage around the opening. You should
have the pockets and weld nuts in place to simply screw the latches in.
On the bottom, the two pins attached to the window frame itself slide down
into two plastic sockets that attach at the bottom of the opening. Pretty
simple. You will need a early model rear window seal (weatherstrip). Also,
you will need early model rear roof trim with the notches to access the latch
levers. I may try to modify the 75 roof trim that I have - so look for that in the future.
I'll get some closeups with the window out tomorrow.

Robert, Thanks for the pics. How does that storage tray work? Does it sandwich the glass beetween it and the top deck? If so, wont it scratch the glass?

Mine is actually missing the foam pads and handle to prevent scratching. Since mine is stored in the garage, it isn't an issue yet, but the original glass is badly scratched as a result.

This is my solution for a nicer look when the rear window is out:
