I can't afford it or else I'd probably be all over this one. It is what I want for a second C3. I know you guys must've looked at it, why no bids? Is it because there are no engine pics? Please educate me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...147#moredetail
I'd guess because it was a "Tonawanda Built" Corvette-heard those were'nt near as good as the St.Louis Corvettes. All five of mine were built in St.Louis. I have a friend, who has an uncle, who has a brother, that has a nephew, that has a grandfather once had a "Tonawanda Built" Corvette, he traded in on a "Pinto".
I don't think the Tonawanda Plant had anything to do with the building of vettes. It has to do with the engines that were either produced out of Flint, MI or Tonawanda, NY and then shipped to St. Louis for assembly. A quick research on the internet shows that there were Tonawanda built engines in vettes. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I'm sure you all will.
I had been dealing on Ebay for a while before I bought my car. The seller had like a 1 feedback, 2 pos and 1 neg. He got a negative feedback for bad communication, but when I asked him questions, he emailed or called me back right away, so I knew that was no longer an issue. I was happy with my deal and the transaction, he even had me picked up at the airport. The car even made it home from Boston to SW Florida, straight through.
Everyone has to start somewhere with eBay. They have insurance to cover fraud and such. My question is: if the car is as he states, isn't it worth a lot more? It does bother me that there were no pics of the motor.

I dont understand.... did you buy this car and drive it home?
I don't think he provided enough information in the auction. As you noticed, not one engine pic. However, what I see looks very good.... almost too good! Wonder if car is original (original 50k miles? ) or restored. I think numbers on speedo are supposed to be greenish white, so speedo might be a replacement? To answer your question, maybe not enough info presented plus maroon is not a very popular color, but it does look very nice to me! :) MJ
so did you buy it???
never mind.... I figured out you were referring to the seller you bought your vette from, not this ebay vette...

OK, very funny Paul (nyuk nyuk nyuk!) but it is fairly obvious to me the seller was referring to the engine, not the whole car. Doesn't the car look good to you???? (From the little you can see in the pics) appears to be an original engine L71 which is a great place to start. Paint is "bad" enough to be original, but bumpers and guages actually look too good - so if they are in fact original car is in amazing condition. Paul, as an owner of 2 68s you could have given us a little more!! MJ
MNJack,
Yes I was just responding to the previous post that pointed out the seller's zero feedback as a possible reason why no one was bidding on the car.
If I HAD the money I think I'd check that car out.
Back to my car: I bought my car simply because it was in my price range and I thought it was a good deal. I would have gone to ebay and used their insurance to refund my flight money had the car been in a lot different shape than the seller portrayed. I'm not sure how successful I'd have been getting a refund, but you're supposed to be covered for up to $20,000 against fraud or stolen vehicles, etc.
Now that I've been in the forum for a bit, I'd ask someone in the area to look at it or at least suggest a reputable shop to inspect it.
