i cleaned all the plugs, gapped them, i got arc in all the wires, but for some reason, its still missing, and i think its at number 7 because i pulled the plug out, and it was wet....the rest were ok.. i hope it just needs a new plug..but i was getting worried so i wanted to make sure before i go out tomorrow to buy a new set of plugs.
Sound like it could be a bunch of things, the pro's here can handle it better than me. I know if you suspect spark from one cylinder that pulling that plug wire to see if it made it run any rougher would confirm your suspicions. I'm going to follow this thread for educational purposes.
With that said, I just can't resist:
yes, a missing engine could make driving difficult! :lolg:
What was the wet stuff on it? Was it gas or water. Gas would indicate that you have liquid fuel in the intake manifold...probably carburator has a leaky accelerator pump diaphram, float level too high, sticking float valve, or dirt in the reservoir keeping the float valve open. If it's water then you might want to do a compression test...but it could also be condensation...did you run the engine and get it warmed up first? Perhaps swap the #7 and #1 plugs and see if that changes anything....also swap the #7 and #8 plug wires (if possible or use a good used one) and see if that changes anything.
i cleaned a different plug from another motor...installed in my motor in the car...it definitely idles better...and now i don't think its miss firing....i think its wet from gas....but only on #7 plug...the others are dry...how would the carb dump too much gas on this plug and not the others?
So if you had one bad plug then that cylinder was not burning tha air/fuel vapor in that cylinder. So thats why its wet. The a/f vapor is still being sucked in there but its not burning off. So its collecting in the cylinder and getting wet.
john...your exactly right. now to keep my plugs from getting blackend! guess its from running to rich at idle...anyone with tips that i don't know on how to help me there?
