Old Spark Plugs stuck...PLEASE HELP
Hi,
I am changing the spark plugs and a couple of them are really stuck on there tight...I've been using Liquid Wrench liberally and still no budging...I've replaced 5 but have 3 to go (and 2 of the 3 have snapped in half still in the block!)...any advice on how to properly and safely remove these stuck spark plugs?:confused:

Make sure you have a GOOD six sided (not twelve)spark plug socket. Make certain that you get it on the plug perfectly square. That will usually work.

i always tap on the wrench to jar them loose. Sometimes i tap in the tightening direction for a few raps to jar it loose. Sounds bass-ackwards, but i've seen it work.

i always tap on the wrench to jar them loose. Sometimes i tap in the tightening direction for a few raps to jar it loose. Sounds bass-ackwards, but i've seen it work.
Sometimes all it takes is to get it to move, even if it's in the wrong direction.

Make sure you have a GOOD six sided (not twelve) spark plug socket. Make certain that you get it on the plug perfectly square.
Use a breaker-bar socket wrench, or add an extension to your socket wrench (a one foot length of pipe) that will slip over the wrench handle for added leverage.

I've managed to get 2 of the 3 stuck plugs out...1 more to go! But it's a real bugger, I've tried four times today...someone mentioned using a mini-propane torch to heat it up...is this a good idea? :confused:

I wouldn't think you'd want to heat up the plug as that would cause it to expand, making it even tighter in the head.

The only help I could give would be to use a cheater or breaker bar to get more leverage on the plug. Also when you go back, get some NEVER SEIZE so next time this job will be easier.
