1972 Muncie 4 Speed
Question, on my 72, I have a Muncie M21, I have a gear oil leak from just below the front shifter fork (side access plate) towards the bell housing. There is what looks like a 3/4 nut just below the shifter arm, in the middle of the nut there appears to be a nylon insert. is this a vent? Can I just pull it, clean it or do I have to replace it?

It is a switch. It tells the primative emission system that the car is in 4th gear and to allow the vacuum advance to allow full vacuum, if the switch on the intake is still there (most likely gone). You can remove this switch and clean and try to seal it up.

You might want to get a plug for that Stratos...you can use some permatex part B on the threads if you want to just find a bolt.
