Well, if I had $65,000 to spend on any car, especially a highly modified C3 convertible, I don't think it would matter to me or not if it would be allowed on the race track.
I would sell my left nut to buy that car. Oddly, I doubt selling that part alone will get to $65,000.
I hate to hear that Steve is really wanting to get rid of Project Insane Asylum. I hope his next project car is still a Corvette.
The thing that bothers me about the car is it's all engine and wheels.
There was very little suspension work done, certianly no more than the usual sway bars etc.
I mean it's beautifull and powerfull, but seems like a weird combo...
For 65k+ I would expect a roll cage, and some real suspension work.
OR, it would be a drag car and have been backhalved with a 9" and a 4 link.
:iagree:
What about 450lbs rated tranny, is there this kind of clutch also?
Group buy!!! Get your wallets out gentlemen, if we can get 65K all together, I can keep it in my carage, and who ever wants to drive it must fly to Finland first  :steering:
I can barley afford my 75. It means that when I do something to it (mod wise) I have to really think about it to avoid mistakes. Make sure that its going to make me happy. And it does.
I cannot image spending over 250,000 dollars on a car then deciding to take over a 100,000 dollar loss on it. That is insane. I know that it takes rich people to acomplish some great tasks in our world but thats just insane.
It just goes to show that no matter how much money you have its up to you to make your own happiness. It doesn't matter if you drive a Honda or a Corvette as long as it makes you happy. Just look at merlin. All the money you could imagine and still unhappy with his car.
I was once sad about his decisions, and would Annoy him with constant e-mails begging him to reconsider. Well it obviousally will not do the trick. But on the other hand, When I first came to this site, I saw the pic of his car, and was horrified at the sight that another vett looks like mine. I was even more freaked when I saw that he lived in the same county as me, and practically same city. So at least now I will basically have the only vett that looks like that in Washington again. Only thing I have to do now is ACTUALLY FINISH IT!! and take some dang pics :)
Damn. Like most everyone here, if I only had the money....
For $60K it's quite a buy. The first thing I'd do is yank the engine and put something more practical in it. Then the car would work.
With the right engine, it will do 10s and hit the skidpad at 1g (maybe) and will run a very respectable high speed.
Anyhow, I hope whoever gets that car will come to the forum and keep us up to date on how the car performs. One of the biggest disappointments was the fact that absolutely nothing was proven regarding the performance. Not one trip down the 1/4 mile or one speed run. Oh well, we have been through this a million times. I like the car and the concept behind it, I just want to see the performance numbers. It would have been cool if it really worked as designed. I really hope it gets sold this time.
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
I live 3 hours away from the car and don't even know it. I think i might have to make a special visit. :banghead:
If you get a 5 year loan at 3.9% it's only $1072 a month. Plus gas money, oil changes, and replacement trannys . . .
Oh, and those wheels were probably a lot more than $5000. More like 2-4k EACH from what I've seen of HRE pricing.
I'll agree the motor is a bit much for the traction . . . maybe you could convert it to AWD ;)
