After reading all the post about spreader bars I decided I should have one. But looking at the photos in the catalog and some pics on here I didn't see how it could fit on my 68 vert with an engine driven fan. Has anyone installed one on there car with engine fan? I then made my own brackets with the rod attachment ears angling downward a few degrees to get clearance under the pulley. I had a local fab shop make the adustable rod with heim ends. I didn't save any money but it fits and works well. I took it out for a drive this afternoon and I don't get near the chassis shake when I hit bumps. Next week I will autocross it and see if it makes a difference in handling. Craig
I made the bolt on plate out of 3/8" x1" and the rod tabs out of 1/4" x 1".
The plate is 9" long with the holes 6-5/8" apart. The tabs measure in length 1-7/8" on the bottom and 2-1/4" on the top side. This gives them the downward angle to lower the bar to clear the pulley. The rod length is 18-3/4" with the heim ends measuring 20-3/4" eye to eye. I hope this helps . Craig
Returned the links to you with posting instructions so you can edit your first post to include the pics. Otherwise, a bunch of people will read the first post and then reply with "where are the pics?" since a lot of people don't look at a complete thread.
Yeah, sounds good. I plan on making my own also. Heim jointed links aren't really that expensive since you buy a tube, then weld in the threaded insert, and screw in the heim.
And I saw on ebay a spreader bar with nr for only $8... you guys should check it out. I'm not ready for it. It says it needs a fan spacer for a mechanical fan.
Looks good. I'll be making one when I switch engines next year, but I'll put in electric fans so it won't be much of an issue. I think I need to making something more bling bling then the flat black. Hmm, I should have the bar chromed or powder coated....

Nope, I keep telling you folks, it's only bling if you chrome... You've gotta go with the 14K gold for the bling bling!
My crank is made out of gold, my connecting rods out of platinum and pistons are a high-lustre(haha, I UK'd that word) silver. Block is made out of high-clarity diamond.
