Someone told me that bb half shafts are bigger then sb half shafts. What is the size of the bb shafts and are they stronger ? Thanks for your help, Vincent
To the best of my knowledge.............no difference between BB & SB 1/2 shafts. All '63 - '74 1/2 shafts were 2.5" O.D. All '75 - '79 1/2 shafts were 3.0" O.D.
Hope this helps................-Rod :chevy
now the real question- will they take 500 ft-lbs and 480 horse in a dependable manner? i guess if no one answers then ill have to be the guinea pig
They can handle the horse power but your straps or u-bolts won't. We make a HD cap for the 1/2 shafts. $32.99 per cap and you won't bust them. You can also cryo the 1/2 shafts and u-jonts to make them stronger.

Are you saying you have a kit to convert u bolts to heavy duty caps?
i know that all too well... friend had a mishap in a BB 396 camaro resulting in holes in the floor where there shouldnt be holes. since then i swear by driveshaft/halfshaft loops
