i'm a fairly new member, I have a 79 L-82 auto, with 30K miles on it
nothing has been changed on it except for the intake (i'm not the original owner)
the factory tape deck kind of sucks and I've been wanted to put in a CD player, should I cut a hole and install one? or should I keep the originality........i know '79's are not very desirable
as well, I have the classic white exterior and red leather interior, and the pinstriping is red.......i would like to remove this as well....how do I safely remove the original painted on pinstriping??
I can't help you with your pinstripe issue, but I CAN tell you that you're not as limited as you think with your sound equipment. There are manufacturers out there that make am fm cassette cd controlers that fit into the existing opening of your 79. You don't have to do any carving.........
Do what you want. If YOU want it original then dont. If YOU want good tunes then yes. There are allot of people on this forum who are original and allot of us (most) who are not. And as stated above, there are options so you dont have to cut... but that wouldnt be original either. Its all up to you.

Since pinstriping is added after the car has been painted it does not adhere to the paint as well as the paint adheres to the body. Therefore you can probably take it off with a mild polishing compound. Just don't go crazy and polish through to the fiberglass.
Its your car ,do with it what you want to do to it.You can always go back to original if you want to.I had a white 79 with red interior ,first thing i did was strip interior put black in it, strip the paint and painted it candy pearl tangerine. :yesnod: then painted it black and sold it.
