I just installed Hooker Headers on my '71 big block. The lower bar on the Z-bar (the one the clutch rod connects to) touches the header and I have no free-play on the clutch fork. When I connected the clutch rod, I had to push the clutch fork back against the clutch fingers about 3/8 to 1/2 inch to get the rod in the hole.
I know that there is supposed to be some free-play in the clutch fork to keep from wearing out the throw-out bearing, but I have none. I called Hooker and they said there should be 5/8" clearance from the bar to the header. Has anyone ever seen this problem and know of a fix?
