Well the time has finally arrived. After a year in process, many long nights, alot of filling, priming and sanding my 69 is ready for paint. So this saturday, my brotherinlaw will lay the paint on. The fresh bumper, new interior and new lights are waiting to go on. COME ON WEEKEND!
Right ON!!! I am bout ready to do the same thing, I still need to "Convert the garage" but bought all the supplies to do that. That and I still need to find a way to get all the dust out and off the car with out it moving :( "no engine in it" So I am halfway contemplating on wether or not to wait and do it at a later time. Otherwise I probabily could start this weekend as well. We could polute the ozone at the same time :). J/k. I am taking great percaution in keeping dust to a minimum. What color and what kind of paint do you plan on using?
I am using a DCC "single stage black paint, then I will block sand the heck out of it, then maybe I will throw a few coats of clear over it. It actually shines just as good as a dual stage, and they say it's just as strong and hard. However I question that.
I'm going with lazer red pearl. It is a 2 part system and is the same color as my 99 fatboy. I'm using PPG type DBC. By the price of it you would think there is gold in it instead of pearl.
You know by saying that kind of paint, it is a full requirment to post many many pics of this when your done right?.. and my many many pics, I am saying pics in every possible light, Moonlight sunlight, shadelight, neonlight, strobelight :). Oh and headlight.
I will try and post some pics of my bike tomorrow. Never did it before. I will see what I can do. The color is a dark red with a lot of metalic in it. Bright in sunlight / dark at night. I like it. Should look good with all the curves of the c3.

It's funny you say that. Many paint tints use titanium in the tinting.
I have heard in the past that gold is actually used to create good red tinting.
It may be BS - but red paint is always a bit more pricey than other colors.
I'm glad black is fairly cheap ... but the color-change pearl is gonna kill me.
Well we painted my 69 saturday. Oh I couldn't sleep friday night. We tape the car up friday until 1:00 in the morning then got up to paint at 7:00 saturday to paint. Well let me say this my brother in law can lay some paint. It looks great. I post a few pictures of the hood, deck lid and a fender to wet your lips on. Now i can start putting this badboy back together. For those of you that are in the process of getting your vette ready to paint ,all I can say it is worth it. You will love it.
Gawd.. It's making me salivate.. I hope your right about it being worth it, But you making me want to jump the gun.. I have decided to wait till I get the engine back in the car, so I can at least back her out and properly whipe her down and really clean the garage and hose it down, "get that damm dust out"
