Default What is this cable for?

Alright, my scanner/camera arn't working, but I can describe what I'm talking about. There is a thick cable bolted to the frame right under the area where the engine mounts to the frame, on the passenger side. It's broken off so I don't know what it's for or where it goes. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Jerry

I agree with Shannon. It is the ground cable for the starter. Your starter should have a stud sticking out the back. One end connects here and the other end connects to an open hole on the frame horn near the motor mount.

:iagree: You need to make sure that this has a good connection. Bad things will happen if its not on right.

Engine ground strap. Grounds the engine to the frame. Wierd electrical problems can arise when this is not hooked up. For instance, the engine may be grounded to the frame via exhaust pipes and hangers and whatnot. But you can never rely on that to always work. The ground strap insures that the engine is always grounded to the frame.

One side needs to be bolted to a clean paint free location on the block, and the other likewise to the frame.
