Interesting concept..but ide rather not be tethered. Got to move around to many obsticles. I wish I could store a charge and release it the first time a dog tries to bite me. That would be cool.
In the late 80's and early 90's Mazda's used to have a little rubber pad on the door just for the purpose of discharging the occupants so they wouldn't get static shocks.
I still get them big time in our Prizm. Also when I get up from my pc and I walk by my wife who is in front of her pc, sometimes I'll touch her of kiss her, and sparks fly (literally , static shock!)
This is getting interesting. In our lab, we had a meter that you touched.
It read the amount of static charge on your body. My readings were always
down around 1-20 volts (nothing). Other people would read in the hundreds.
I finally noticed that I bought white sneakers and my readings went up.
The black sneakers (soles) were providing me with the same grounding that
folks are talking about - regarding the tires Carbon compound. You might
try some black soled shoes.
Today I wraped a coat hanger around the bumper bracket so the end of it would drag the pavement. I got absolutly no shocks after doing this. The coat hanger proved the point of having the frame grounded and its aid in reducing static buildup. The coat hanger would bend though when going over a speed bump or what not and then no longer make contact with the ground. I think im gonna hang a small piece of chain on there for a more permenant fix. :smash:
