lately i've been having problems where i'll be driving down the road and all of a sudden i'll lose all power. the entire vehicle just dies. i'm not exactly sure what the problem is, but if i pull out, and plug back in the wire shown in the picture, i'll get power back and away we go. it doesn't always work the first try. sometimes i'll lose power again the instant that i try and start it back up. i'm hoping it's just a bad connection, but i have no idea what the wire is specifically for. any help is appreciated. thanks.
At quick glance, it looks like the starter harness. How does the connection look? The A/C harness is in the same area, but I don't think that's it. Make sure you are getting a good ground and make sure that the wires down to the starter aren't wearing out. Mine is wearing out at the fusible link area by the starter.
See if just jiggling the wires would do the same thing. If so then The junction block is probably loose. Follow the wires going back to the firewall and see if the block is loose. You may need to tighten the hex head screw (I think it's hex head) that holds them together.
Also, if your stock alarm system is still in place then it could be a sign that the starter cut-off is finally giving up the ghost, or perhaps the alarm system sequencer unit.
