I made the mistake of taking the my car off the road for the winter in order to save a few bucks. Now I need to get an independent appraisal of the car and also have the insurance company appraise the car in order to get a stated value policy. I had the car appraised about 15 years ago and it only cost 30.00. I am getting appraisal prices of 225.00 now. I told the appraisal guy that it only cost me 30.00 last time and he said ; what did you get two pages? I will give you eight pages and a CD with pictures. Why do I need eight pages and a CD all I want is a number for the insurance company. Hase anyone gotten a cheap appraisal recently?
Try your local a local car lot that deals with classic cars, vettes, muscle cars etc, we have a local lot like that around here that will give you one but don't know the price..Good luck
Why do you need an appraisal anyway? I have insurance under a stated value policy, they have never even seen the car and only sent pictures when I first got the policy. I would shop for a new insurance company.
Haggerty asked me for an appraisel and our car club has an appraiser that charges $30.00,I think most car clubs have at least one member that does that. :auto:
NHvette: I have been driving the Vette every day this week. I am changing the water pump on the achieva, what a nightmare. The dealer wanted 1000.00 plus to change the pump. The independent shops want 850.00 if they will even do it. I just finished and one of the gaskets is leaking.
PatG: I don't see how you could have a stated value on your car if it was not appraised . How did they determine the stated value?
I had an appraisal done by a place that auctions collector cars a couple of years ago. I think it was $50. I found them by doing a search on Yahoo with the city name and "appraisal". Good luck.
