Default emissions

AZ only exempts 66 and older vehicles. Vette is due by the 31st and I will have a mechanic friend tune it and take her through as was done last year. The only change was to increase the primary jet size on the Holley, so I should be fine.

The only issue could be the missing A.I.R. system. I would have to replace the passenger manifold and remove the bolts from the driver's side (PITA). Is there a source for a complete system if needed. Not concerned about originality at this point. I know I can piece one together, but a kit would be easier.

I don't think that they would know if your car was originally equipped with A.I.R. or not. I know the 300 horse didn't have a smog pump.

See if you can find a shop with an old gas analyzer and tune it prior to the state insp. Most comunity colleges have these, but you may need to be in that class or know someone who is. Your emmisions will be reduced if you retard the timing. You can retard the timing on a bad or old ballancer by moving the outer ring. That way, when they check it, the timing is set to factory specs, but it's actually retarded 3 or 4 degrees. Another trick is to get the motor hot - like driving 10 miles on a freeway hot. When you get there, don't shut it off while you are filling out the paperwork.

I'm sooo glad Calif changed the smog law from '65 to '74. We will see how long that lasts tho. We need more gearheads in politics.

Thanks for the response. The LT-1 did have the A.I.R. system. Based on the fact that few 70s did, thety will probably not notice it missing and am not really worried. Unfortunately, if they do catch it....need a source. I have been able to find all of the parts (based on what I can tell) in about the $550 range.

The car is well below CO and HC limits.
