Default Borrowed my father's motorcycle jack

and found out it works great on the vette:

It gets real low and jacks real high, enough to get up on almost the highest level of my stands plus you jack it with your foot. I borrowed it to work on my trans but now I have to have one for myself. Jacks the whole side of the car up at once too. I actualy bought it for my father at Sam's club a few years back for $99, now I'll have to see what the cost is now.

They actual mention the Sam's Club one I have (it si rated at 1200 lbs but had no problems with my vette minus the eng and trans:

Wonder if it would cause any damage to frame?

Sure would be fast way to get it in the air, then put jack stands under it and then do it to the other side.

I just bought one of those for $80 at costco. I've been using it to install air cooled VW engines.

:withstupid: looks like the pads are 10 times the thickness and length of a standard jack stand, surely would be better for the frame than a jack stand.

Mental note - get me one! After years of owning motorcycles, the thought never crossed my mind.

I have actual jacked my car up with a single jack using the center cross member (eng and tans in) and my doors close fine. I jack it up and put stand at either end rather quickly. If I owned a $100,000+ 67 427 vert I would probably not do it but for my less than perfect 73 it has worked fine. :)
