Need some help. I just finished replacing all my vacuum hoses. When I fired up the car, the headlight doors and wiper door came open, but would not close. The over-ride switches don't make any difference in the up or down position. The headlight switch and wiper switch both function (lights and wipers work), but the doors will not go down. Any ideas where to start? It's kind of frustrating as I made sure to replace the hoses piece by piece. Hopefully, it is something simple. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Vacuum Troubleshooting - Need Help! (DougsL89)
Start from manifold and trace vacuum with gauge. There are so many components and connections which can be bad. Get a diagram of correct routing of hoses too. Look at Dr. Rebuilt catalog as it has good diagram.

I just replaced the hoses on my lights, when I was done they would not go down.
Turns out I had the vacuum source hooked up wrong on the control (relay?) valve.
The source vacuum should be connected to the middle port.
Ed's advice is excellent for any type of vacuum problem... Start at the source and work towards the problem. A vacuum gauge is also very helpful in tracing the source of the problem.
My guess is that you'll eventually discover that Sean's statement is correct... You have a connection reversed somewhere in the system (probably at a relay).
By the way (not sure if you got my return email), your car looks super! Nothing I'd do to it but drive and enjoy!
Good luck in tracking down the problem Doug... Let us know how you make out.
