has anyone ever ordered up a set of custom decals for their vette? I would like to take the classic air cleaner emblem with the crossed flag and put a '383' under it in place of the 350/454 etc, and replace the turbo jet xxxx HP bottom rocker with what my vette puts out.
I use this method to make custom faceplates and panels for my electronics projects:
- do the artwork on a PC using Powerpoint, Paint Shop, etc.
- print it out (in color) on stiff paper, high quality setting
- spray a few coats of clear polyurethane (gloss or semi) over the artwork
- trim it to shape
- spray some 3-M adhesive on the back and apply just like a decal
This makes some great looking panels, should work for decals as well. You might also try the office supply stores, they carry some blank decal sheets for inkjet printers.
Can't help with the 383 part, but I bought 3 different horsepower stickers and cut them up and repositioned the numbers to get what I needed. You can't tell unless you get up really close and are looking for it.
