In there we discussed the best solutions for the L-48 on a budget.
New 58CC aluminum heads, new cam and lifters, exhaust and some carb tuning should get you a 9.5:1 compression motor that should put out about 300 HP/ 350 lbs trq at the crank and cost about $1500 total.
