Default 79-80 buys

Hey guys what do you think about the 79-80 Vettes.
I was thinking about replacing my 89 vette with either a 1992
or maybe a 1979/80. Hows the 79 holding up?? If I bought a
nice 79 with low miles would it give me a lot of trouble being that
its over 20 years old??? Is it reliable now. What around town mileage
does a 79' get? :chevy

Not as reliable as a 92, but it depends on what you will use it for. If its your daily driver then go with the 92. If its just for fun then a 79 would be great. You will need to work on a 79 allot more than a 92 so if your not into getting greasy then shop bills will pile up fast.

Unless you buy a nice one that doesn't need a bunch of work. ;)

I like my 79 for a daily driver ( that's not to say I wouldn't like a 92 better, I've never been in one). Sure it has some quirks, but I'm getting those worked out as I go along. Mine is all stock except for true duals through manifolds. I get about 13 around town and over 20 on the highway and that's with the stock TH350 and 3.55 gears in the rear. Praise the Lord, it has NEVER left me walking. Granted, I only live 11 miles from work...

i like my 79, although it's running hot right now with the higher compression
the style of the 80 is a little nicer IMHO
