Place your bets!
Today, I started the final transformation. I modified the Performer Intake, to flow similar to a RPM intake. Also, I have a Holley 6213 (Model 4165), which is an 800cfm spreadbore. I know what you're thinking, 800cfm is way to big for this engine, but it has been modified by a very knowledgeable forum member to work with my engine.
So, what are your predictions for these two additions to my engine combination? Worse, Same, Faster? What kind of increase in hp, if any, can I expect?
Here are a few pics:
Performer before modification
Performer after modification
Holley Carburetor, not mounted
Slight clearance problem with the holley
Anyone have this clearance problem when converting to a holley? I might try either a carburetor spacer, or a 90 degree fitting.
Thanks for your comments or suggestions! :seeya :chevy
I guess it's not very popular because most people either just change intakes, or buy the one they need to start with. When I bought my intake, I mainly chose the performer rather than the RPM because I did not have a squarebore carburetor to mount on it, nor the money to do so. I spent all of the available money I had on the engine internals, figuring I could just add or change external stuff whenever.
At the worst, I can buy an RPM intake, and put this modified intake on eBay. Probably could auction it for more than a new RPM would cost
