Default New 454 backfires badly
Hi all, the swap is done and the car drives but it back fires badly on the right bank and also through the carb.
Any suggedtions?

Have you double-checked the firing order on that side? No spark plug wires crossed?

if it's not the firing order, reset the valves engine running.(or use the up & down method, not the twist) :smash:

Backfiring through the carb sounds like your timing is too far advanced. Retard the timing and speed up the idle a tad. What cam are you running?

I say double check plug wire routing 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
