Real world drag racing nitrous numbers?
I see in the NOS ads that 100 shot = 1 second in the quater.
Just wondering what it really did for your car.
How much are you running? what are your times with and without it?
Since your car already runs 12s, I'd say "with slicks" you will get a 1 second reduction in ET.
Also, realize they are using a typical car with weight in the 3300-3600lb range (probably right in line with a C3). Heavier car will take more power to get that 1 second reduction, and the lighter car will see a larger benefit. Then add to that, the fact that once you are making a certain amount of power, you get into the law of diminishing returns. I've found this to be right in the low-11, high-10 second range, where 100hp gain does NOT = 1 sec/10mph trap gain. It takes more HP to see the same result as compared to a slower car.
I have run nitrous on two of my personal cars before. One weighed 3600lbs (with driver) and ran 13.10 @ 103mph on motor (regular radials). 125hp shot of nitrous bumped me 102rwhp as measured on the dyno, and gave me a 12.60 @ 113.xx mph (regular radials). Bolting on drag radials yielded a 12.34 @ 115.2mph.
The other car ('02 Z06) ran 12.36 @ 116 bone stock on motor, and the one time I've had it to the track since, I managed a tire-shredding 11.83 @ 128.xx mph. It's a 125hp shot that actually makes 130rwhp gain on the dyno. The track was really bad as far as traction goes. I believe it will go solid mid-11s on stock radials.
So you can see that the trap speed in both cases goes way up, but unless you can get the power to the pavement efficiently, you'll spin quite a bit more, so ET will not go down by a full second or more.
I don't know if you intend to ever use it on the street, but from a rolling start where you already have traction, the nitrous will work really, really well too. :D
Btw, what did your 13.1 car dyno at without the nitrous?
Im thinking that a 75 shot could bring my 12.6 to a high 11. I dont really have many traction problems because I only make 280 RWHP ;)
I think im gonna have to test this kit out (actually make it work this time) and see if i have the same results as you.
NICE ZO6!!!! That thing is a rocket
My 13.1 car was a '96 Cobra. It made 288rwhp N/A and 390rwhp on the juice.
75-100hp should get you very, very close to an 11.9. Realize, though, that the nitrous hits pretty hard (as evidenced by the high RWTQ improvement over NA), so while your peak HP gain may only be 75+, you will see an excellent _average_ HP gain across the rev-range. This is the result of a very fat TQ curve on the nitrous. It might be enough to blow the tires off.
Good luck with it! I'm sure you'll be pleased.
I will have some results for you to compare with yours  (i hope  ) ;)
