I did this a few years ago with another car. You do have to remove the stock big block exhaust manifolds even though they hug tight and appear that they would drop right in with the motor... Heads can stay on... I also put the motor in alone, with the tranny (manual) and bellhousing already there waiting for the motor. Other folks put the whole package in as an assembly.
My 454HO has a mechanical pump boss. I'm running a mechanical pump. Do yourself a favor though, go electric.
Really? I have a Gen V 454 H.O. and I have no boss. I wonder why you have one and I don't since it's the same engine? I'm running an electric Holley blue 110gph .
??? I don't know? Mine is actually a Gen. VI block. I think it was assembled in '98 if I remember right from the build tag. Anybody else know why the difference?
The intake I have is casting# 3963569. It is a 70-71 LS6 low rise, as far as I know. Corey is right, it is for rectangle port heads. I think you have a few more options with oval port intakes, but yes, this one fits under a stock '73 hood with a little room to spare. I think I paid $200 for it from another forum member.
