I'm getting ready to swallow hard and try installing my own new replacement convertible top on my '68. I have purchased everything I think I need. Can anyone that has been through this send some information and tips my way, or talk me out of it if you think I'm crazy. The local upholstery guy wants $500 labor to do it so I know it can't be easy. Ouch! Thanks in advance for any help. Greg
On a follow-up question.. Has anyone changed a convertible top on a C5? Mine is black and I'm thinking aboutgoing to white. If the '68 job isn't a total disaster, is the C5 doable at home?

Hey Greg,
Your upholstery guy is spankin' you pretty hard. Two local shops here charge $150-$200 to install when I supply the top. Do you have another option? I do most of my own work, but I farm out on convert. tops 'cause I don't want 'em wrinkled or sagging. If you decide to tackle it.....Good luck, Greg

Get the video from Echlers. I did my 71 following the tape, and using a little common sense and it came out very good. Not hard at all, just take your time.
Another one of those things I may try just becuase you guys say it is not too hard. Hmmmm.

:iagree: That's exactly what I did. Not too bad at all. The video don't cover every little detail but like Roadster71 said use common sense and you will be fine.Get the video from Echlers. I think there is a howto on corvettefaq.com
And GSC3 has done it too...
Or just leave it off... mine never comes up anyway!

Okay, got the video and watched it. For those of you that have done this, what doesn't the video tell us?
