what to do..... UPDATE
well, the worst case scenario......it happened. we just cant afford the final bill, and its to the point where we might take legal action about it. so i dont really know what im going to do right now, as i just got the bad news today. anyone want to hand out some free money? :(
EDIT: i just talked to a friend (who happens to be the pres of a bank...and we will talk tomorrow)

HOly cow...what was doen to the car and how much is the bill? I don't know anything about what your legal rights are but I would think that if you had a stated (written) agreement for a certain amount of work to be done at a certain price and the mechanic either did more than that or is charging you more than you agreed to you should be able to take some action. I mean you still own the car, he doesn't have the title...does he? :eek:

I really hope you get this all sorted out. I don't know anything about the legal issues involved or anything else, but I can say that my dad got a sweet deal on the truck I now own because someone couldn't afford to pay the mechanic. The mechanic ended up with the title...
Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned this, I don't want to make you even more depressed. I guess what I'm saying is to be careful how you proceed. If you really did get yourself into a pickle and if he is in the right (which only you know), don't kill your financial future over it. Just make the decision you know is right. Many of us who aren't made of money spend way too much of it on our cars. There is a point where you have to walk away, but it's different for everyone...

the good news is that we pulled some strings and talked to some people and we will be able to get the car!!! :hurray: so next week when the $$$ is all scrounged up and we go to pick it up, i will put troy out of business due to all the bandwidth being pulled by all the pics i put up :D (sorry troy) :thumbs:
