Bubba worked on my car, and installed a Hurst Mega Shifter, ruining the console plate in the process. Now they both have to go. I'm ordering a new console plate from Corvette Central, and I have to get a new shifter assembly. I'm looking back at the stock ones, and they're c. 150 bucks. I was wondering if I could use the hurst shifter assembly and a regular 'Vette T-Handle shifter/shift **** so I don' have to pay so much money? I just can't believe the clown-job the owner before me did on this car :nonod: I've got to clean it up...and soon-the nice weather is here.
The two are quite a bit different so the parts won't interchange but if you have a hurst comp plus they do make a GM no functional look alike handle. I just replace my hurst with a stock muncie shifter. Th most likely will need to get the entire unit WITH all of the rods and the mounting bracket. It is not easy to make the swap back. Exhaust needs to come off and you need a GM neutral gauge. The gauge is no problem. When you get ready to do the job I will loan you mine. I paid $150 for a very nice complete unit. I know it's a pain but mixing parts is not an option. Sorry
ahhh crap. Thanks for the advice blue. The shifter is for a Th350, not a Muncie, so i was hoping that I could use the same bracket/cable assembly, and use a stock Vette T Handle shifter (it looks about the same, has the same functions), w/ a new boot, and be done with it. I just didnt' want to have to get a whole new bracket setup/assembly. Ugh
Sorry. I thought you were talking about a four speed. I do not know anything about an automatic except the internals. Maybe some one else knows. :chevy
