wonky window
Quick question - if the drivers side window on my 78 seems to take ages to wind up & even then, it doesn't go all the way to the top (Ihave to pull it up the last few inches), is that something to do with the motor, gears or what ? - the passenger side window works fine.
Anyone hazard as guess at to how much it's cost to fix, or what I need to look at first & the best way of getting to the gears, there doesn't seem to be much room in the door panel
cheers

Mike, Your window motor could be bad but I'd check other things first. Does the window misbehaive while the engine is running too? I once had two windows "stick" in the down position but it turned out to be a nearly flat battery. If the window does go all the way up (with manual aid) then your adjustments are okay you just might need to lubricate the tracks. If I were you I'd keep motor/gears as a last option. I replaced one motor and it was about $128 here in the 'States. Not as hard to do as it looks, there are only three bolts once you get the door panel and dust cover off. (at least on a 75. I wouldn't think it would be too different on a 78) I've heard white lithium grease is a good lube for window tracks. You can even get it in a spray can now.
Good luck!

Rimmer: Recommend going to red alert.
Kryten: Are you sure? It does mean changing the bulb.
