Intake manifold comparisons
Is there an article which has a side by side comparison of various inake manifolds by various manufacturers? I am gonna be looking to get a new intake manifold, and I am leading to the performer Air-gap. But I was wondering about some holley or weiand or brodix intakes on the dual plane front.
If you do find a comparison test it will be useful only if you have the same cylinder heads, exhaust and carb.
Any magizine test that you find may well have the outcome skewed by the amount of money spent by the mfg. on ads.
Pick the one that looks like it will fit your needs and has a good rep. and be happy.
This might interest you. It isn't a direct comparison of a Performer vs performer air-gap, but rather performer vs performer RPM air-gap.
The tests were conducted on Westech’s SuperFlow engine dyno using an 8.67:1 355ci small-block Chevy equipped with aftermarket aluminum cylinder heads, headers, and a healthy performance flat-tappet hydraulic cam (0.472/0.472-inch lift, 220/228-degrees duration at 0.050). The engine ran Union 76 92-octane unleaded street gas and 35-degrees of ignition lead.

Interesting chart. It appears the airgap is pretty good. Think I am gonna get the regular performer airgap. want the off idle power and I doubt I will see over 5500 RPM
Your profile shows a Weiand which is also good & may be all you need. You can get an intake manifold heat shield from Moroso which goes under intake & block heat risers & carb insulator. All 3 Rec. !
You guys w/ low hoods (68-72 & 80-82) might find it interesting that a Performer 2101 can make 430+ on 383 W/ good heads. You need to consider the entire flow path.

I think his current manifold is a single plane; don't know if the signature is correct or not. He wants to go with a dual plane for better low end power and to work with the future mods he plans.

Yes the previous owner put on a single plane intake.
Weind stealth is a good all around intake and it fits under a stock hood. Seems the price has jumped over the last year so it must be popular or why else would teh price go up?
