This one seems sort of odd to me. If I lightly brake the Vette, I can hear a click that is coming from the passenger side rear brake. However, if I brake fairly firmly, I hear nothing. The click goes up and down in speed with tire rotation speed if that helps in the diagnosis. Anyone got any ideas on this one? I have looked over the rotor through the rim and all looks good. It is always something isn't it?
Don't know if I can help diagnose, but.....I had the same problem, same side, after complete rebuild of arms, brakes, etc. One day is just quit making the noise. I suspected the parking brake (all was replaced). When this is happening, try pulling up on your brake handle lightly and see if this alters the
noise. Good luck and let us know if and when found. (maybe it will just go
away).
Definitley try the P Brake thing like mox77 has suggested. Do this in an area where the sound will rebound more easily (beside a wall)
If no luck with the p brake thing then I'll BET it's the retaining pins for the pads ...... As the rotor turns (and it's not 100% true) it drags the pads back and forth on the pins making a clicking sound.
Exact same thing finally got fixed (after several months) on mine last year. Just order new pins, apply anti seize, install. TADAH!!
After I posted, I too, started thinking about the parking brake. I know at one time, it had been rebuilt by one of the previous owners. I will investigate further. It is one of those things you only hear with the passenger window down, otherwise the other glorious sounds of the Vette drown out this irritant. Thanks for the reply.
