Dave, Stick with the original apraisel...Let them price the extra parts, and all original parts too. You will want the extra value on the repair bill even if they appraise the vette at $25,000 the higher repair bill will still scare the insurance adjuster off. and it will lower your buy back value.

You may want to speak with your lawyer about buying back your car. If it appraises above your limits, your not made whole by the ins co, thus they should not take salvage. Depends on the calif. l;aws, but it sure is worth checking into. I wrecked mine a couple of years ago and the ins co tried to take salvage after paying the limits of 11,000 but the car was appraised at 18,000, thus the salvage value of 3500 didnt make me whole and I kept the car., check with your attorney...Larry
When I was 14 My dad bought the 81 I have now. We put a lot of work into it. He tollaled it a few years later. I bought it off of him after that and rebuilt it and I am currently enjoying it. I don't regret it for a second. Good luck with what ever you do.
"You need to start doing whatever your supposed to be doing, i.e. talk to the body shop confer with farmers main office. Whatever your job description entails that's what your supposed to be doing not me. So far for 2 weeks I have been making 10-15 phone calls per day between insuarance/ lawyer/ body shop etc. and i'm tired of it. I am a Counselor of 500 plus enlisted men and woman at Sea control Squadron 41 and I do not have time to be the "go to boy for Farmers or any of them. Bottom line the Vette's fate is still unknown until
1. The Farmer's adjuster turns over the body shop's estimate and finds repair at lower cost and the Vette gets repaired
or
2. My appraiser turns his findings over to my lawyer and he battles that girl's insurance company STATE FARM and tries to get 24K out of them. Either way I buy back the car.
