The problem I have with my glove box is that the glove box latch (that hits the striker to hold the door shut) gets 'stuck' open. It often does not latch and takes two closings for it to hold shut.
Do you think that I can just pull it up and lubricate it, or do I need to just buy a new one?
One thing to check would be wether the female portion of the latch is actually engaging the fixed bar on the glovebox. I ran into this and the problem wasn't the latch itself (which I'd already removed and lubed), but the adjustment of the striker bar.
I am unsure totally of what you mean, but you have peaked my interest.. The problem is that the female end of the latch sometimes gets hung up. In fact, with the door opened if I push the female end back and forth I can see it get hung up. I do not think it is a problem with the striker adjustment, but could be wrong.
80XFlag's thread is excellent. Bottomline is that disassembling the glovebox lock is EASY. Go ahead and pull it out. If doesn't seem to work right order a new one (not expensive).
