Can someone explain how to put the transmission mount in a 4 speed car. I see how to remove the two center bolts on the mount but how do you remove the two outer bolts? Must the bracket be removed. Any advise is appreciated.
I'm having difficulties figuring out what you are asking for. Here's what I see in my 75 AIM. The tranny mount bolts to the cross-member using a bolt and nut on each side of the tranny mount which go through tabs extending out from the cross-member, and two bolts and nuts on the end. The two bolts on the end goes into the cross-member, there is a cutout in the cross-member to sneak a combo wrench or socket to hold the nut/bolt while turning the nut/bolt that is sticking out the top of the tranny mount.
Are you installing from scratch, or removing as you go? I always leave the cross-member and shift bracket attached to the cross-member and only remove the two bolts holding the tranny to the tranny mount.
I'm not exactly sure of what you're asking, but I can give it a try. The 4 speed sits on a rubber mount which bolts to a metal bracket, which bolts to the crossmember.
Now, there's (if I remember currectly) two bolts in the crossmember to the bracket, and to bolts from the bracket to the mount. Good luck
1. Support the the tran with a floor jack. no weight on the tran mount bracket.
2. Remove the tran mount to cross member bracket.
3. loosen the exhaust pipe clamps at the cross member.
3. Remove the 2 outer bolts on the tran mount.
