What states do NOT require visual emissions inspections?
Title about says it all. PA's smog ***** may be driving me out. I'd be interested in Ohio, that way I could keep my job. Any info is appreciated though.

Re: What states do NOT require visual emissions inspections? (Cookwithvette)
ohio is the only one i know about. In ohio it goes on a county to county basis, the one i live in, trumbull, dosnt require any emmissions testing at all. The county to the north, summit, does.
So i dont know if it's going to be a matter time before the county gets it or not.

In Delaware a motor vehicle registered as an antique motor vehicle is exempt from annual inspection. A motor vehicle must pass an initial inspection prior to the motor vehicle being registered as an antique motor vehicle (25 model years or older). The problem is that it can only be used only for participation in club activities, exhibits, tours, parades and similar uses. It can't be used for general transportation.

Ohio is a semi good choice. They do test in 3 area's. I know for sure cleveland is on the list, and i'm 90% cin. is on the list. I forget the third location. I don't know if they check all cars when you move tho. Check out the BMV web site for more info.

I've never known of any inspections here in Michigan. Just by the police. :reddevil That's just usually a hearing inspection, as most don't like nice sounding exhaust.

No emissions inspections of ANY kind in Michigan
Dave
Did they repeal it? I know that wayne county used to have a test cuz my roommate had a pipe that elim the cat and he would put it on after the tail pipe test. I think I heard something about the repeal but was unsure if it happened.

Nothing in Wayne county. I've only been here 4 years, but there hasn't been any since I got here in '99. Good thing, too because it was getting harder and harder to "pass" Massachusetts inspections.

Good old Louisiana does not have any emissions inspection. We do however have a inspection for what is called a brake tag. They check your lights, horn, wipers, and brake lights.

Boy do I remember those Louisiana "brake tag" inspections from when I lived in NO. Stupidest damned things. I remember going to the inspection station in a rusted out '72 half-ton I'd just bought. It's brakes were a little squirrely, and they just kept letting me take runs at the skid-pad & when it still wouldn't pass they gave me the tag anyway. Gotta love that big easy attitude.

NH safety inspection is thorough - but fair. They are strict on rust-through.
NO emissions testing at all. NO brake test on the pad.
The letter of the law allows only(and all) OEM configurations.
I put a 5.0 in my 81 Mustang w/89 dual exhaust (4 cats). They wouldn't
pass it at one station, because it was a 302. 81 only came with a 255 8cyl.
The next station passed it no prob.
Massachusetts sux - born and raised - and working there now - but never live there again.
