What else should I be replacing while doing the engine swap? Tranny and steering rack are done. I plan to have the radiator rebuilt and will re-paint the compartment, replace the coolant reservoir and front suspension.
What am I missing that's easiest to do at that time? :lurk:
ps I'm dropping in a 300 hp longblock from Power2000.
I would do:
(1) Clutch replacement.
(2) Check engine wiring harness for burnt/spliced connections and brittleness. For only $165, it is worth replacing. I can't believe my car did not burn to the ground with what I found on mine.
(3) Leak-check vacuum reservoir tank with hand-held vacuum tester.
(4) Check all clutch linkage for worn parts.
(5) Install any missing insulation (trans tunnel and bellhousing collar).
just thought i would let you that if your radiator is very bad, i have a brand new one (3000 miles on it)...
IM me if your interested in it...
good luck with your project...i just spent 5-1/2 months doin it...
heres a link... http://signguy.freeservers.com/photo.html

Thanks, that's the kind of info I'm looking for. I'll do the new harness. Clutch and everything is done.
The biggest thing I would recommend doing with the engine out is to rebuild the heater box. This is almost impossible to remove once the engine is in but a real snap if you have the clearance. I did mine with the engine in and it took way longer. Check out Doc Rebuild for the rebuild kit.
Replace all the ball joints, idler arm, etc. (I had my steering box rebuilt also but you mentioned a rack.)
Replace the rag joint.
Install new brake lines (both hard and flexible).
Rebuild or replace master cylinder.
Replace vacuum lines for headlight mechanisms.
Re-wrap the wiring harness.
Replace all radiator and heater hoses and heater control valve.
Powder coat every pulley, bracket, etc. that you can get loose.
Don't add up the receipts until 6 months after you're done.
