My mind is still racing at the moment but suffice it to say I've fixed the laptop problem and got to drive today. I only had about 3-5 minutes before God said, "OK. That's enough for today." and unleashed a drenching rain. (Windshield wipers don't work.) But in those few moments I enjoyed a car smoother than I've ever experienced. Idle is PERFECT, doesn't mind hard stops or jerky turns. Brakes work better thanks to a fixed (MASSIVE) vacuum leak. All in all worth the nearly three weeks of fighting and $2,600.
This little fella doesn't jump high enough. :hurray:
Another big thanks to everyone who's helped me on this forum and the other. Zwede has been a great help.
I haven't gone WOT yet but throttle response is GREAT. Come to think of it I don't even think I really opened the "secondaries" but in normal driving the pedal feel is wonderful.
Only real issue now is its tendancy to diesel and run backwards for a cycle or two when shutting down. I'll figure that out though.
One other great thing is now the exhaust doesn't stink. That gassy smell doesn't stick to my clothes and such. Also, with the charcoal canister the raw gas smell doesn't linger around the car anymore.
Re: ---EFI Update... ON THE ROAD!--- (Cookwithvette)
There you go Cook, knew it was worth it, been there some time ago, when I did the TPI setup on my '72 there, having did it to a Pontiac a couple of years before that....it's a huge improvement for the car, best engine modification that can be done above ALL others...
Glad that worked out for you, and you got a sense of actually DOING something rather unique, instead of just fixing it up, following someone elses' plans....
