1980 Sport Mirrors
I could send my cousin with the 3 elbows over to help you but he's workin' the geek show at Ringling Bros. this weekend.
Seriously, you'll probably have to drop the glass to reach that rear bolt. Try undoing the two bolts that hold the inboard window track first and see if this will give you enough room to jockey the glass around. These are two 7/16" bolts in the center of the door about 6 inches apart.
Also I'll look through my tool box in the morning for that headlight switch. I know I have one, I'm just not sure what year it's for.
Good Luck, Greg
1. Removed the felt pads that the window rides against (have one bolt
on each one)
2. Use a rubber door stop wedged between the outside of the window and
the door to push the window as far inward as possible.
3. Took a 1/4", 7/16" socket and ground it down a bit to make it shorter.
4. Mounted the socket on a 1/4" breaker bar. (these are thinner than a
ratchet so can fit between the window and the mirror bolt).
5. Removed the window bolt. Is slow going as you have to keep
repositioning the breaker bar.
Have used this technigue to remove both sport mirrors.
