Just an introduction, so I don't seem out of place when I start replying to threads, or asking questions.
I hope to be in the market for a C3 within the next few months, so I thought some extra research was in order. I'm 23, but I've been in love with the shark for as long as I can remember, and since I just graduated college, I hope to finally be able to afford one. I am doing research, so I hope to avoid at least some of the common questions. And when I do get to the point of looking at C3s, I'd like to take someone more knowledgable with me, so as to avoid getting a bad deal.
Anyway, just getting my first post out of the way.
I have been around vettes for years and owned eleven over the years. I always suggest getting the nicest, best condition one rather than look for a specific year, color, engine, etc. A troublesome first corvette can sour you on them. A nice dependable one will get you aquainted with the corvette world and then if you decide you want a paticular car you will have some insight as to the particulars. There is plenty of info out there for the asking and there are NO stupid questions. :grouphug:
Re: first post from aspiring C3 owner (CorvetteSS)
Welcome !!! You can't go wrong with this car. I've owned Camaros, Mutangs, 280Zs,and 300Zs. They don't hold a candle to this car. Find one you can afford and put it together like you want it. There's a ton of aftermarket stuff and it's a ball just posting on this forum!
Here is the URL for the Western States Corvette Council. http://www.wscc.ws/members.html There are a couple of Corvette Clubs listed in your area. You might try contacting them for the help you need.
Re: first post from aspiring C3 owner (Steve Grodin)
Thanks Steve, some of those clubs are right around the corner. Just what I was looking for. The request to let me drive one of your C3s is still open - purely for research purposes, of course. :)
Re: first post from aspiring C3 owner (Desertdawg)
Geez, Desertdawg, there's plenty of open space out there, isn't there? Couldn't be much around to hit - guess you gotta watch out for <obtuse movie reference alert> graboids though... :jester
These cars are a lot of fun. And can be a lot of work. Take a look at my website. I have some suggestions for those who are looking to buy, as well as those who have already bought. It's just stuff I've learned, since buying mine.
By the way, this forum is the best pool of advice you'll ever find.
