I'm trying to help a friend purchase a project corvette and verify that his VIN and everything matches. Besides the pillar post which was damaged I know there are several spots on the frame that were stamped with the VIN. By the left rear on top of the frame is one spot, can anyone help me with the other spots?
Thanks guys :flag
Jay, i looked over mine with a fine tooth comb when the body was off. The only place i found it was on the left rear frame about where the rear wheel is. Other years might be different but on mine that is the only place.
Hi Gordon, I found that one. but I was told by some NCRS judge at a show last year there are several more. Was in NY yesterday, what a ride home, did some unplanned off road driving because of an accident right in front of me... did my best Nascar immatation in the grass......nice weather huh?
I was in Springfield Mass at 5.45 AM and made it to Erics hockey game at 9AM. 245 miles in 3 hours and 15 minutes only to rain before the ball was dropped. Did not drive in any rain but drove a little fast to get there. I have heard of other locations but I did not find any. I heard there are usually 2 locations of VIN numbers. I never found it if there is.
According to CORVETTE Chassis Restoration Guide by J.A. Tripoli:
"The '63-'72 frame has the serial number stamped in the top of the driver's side outside frame rail. It is located just forward of the #4 body mount. The number is also located on the driver side top rail just forward of the #3 body mount."
This is where I found the two places on my '69 frame. The one above the left rear wheel can be seen with the frame on but it is ON TOP of the frame, take a mirror and light. It is likely covered w/ dirt and mud and rust. The other must have the frame off to see it I remember correctily,
