AC Duct Question
I'm having a heck of a time getting the dash of my 71 vert ith AC back together after the rewire.
The vert has several bracing rods to stiffen the tub. One of these connects down from the steering column bracket to the trans tunnel.
The large Air Distribution Duct that connects the Heater box to the driver side air outlet and the upper center air outlet either goes foreward or aft of this bracing rod. I can't seem to make it work well either way.
How did the General do it?

The way MY car was bought, it goes aft...toward the rear of the car, bar in front.....
having said that, one of the first things I removed was those bars, both of them ....in the way, and in fact never did see any differances in the car's handling, response, stability, wheel vibration...dunno why they were there...
must be side guard protection....wonderful, nothing there anyway, so why bother???

I managed to make this work by removing the welded stud, drilling out the transmission tunnel tab, moving the strut rod forward of the tab and bolting it in with a couple of thick washers.
This allowed enough room to get the big duct in properly aligned.
