Re: IMPORTANT announcement for current Steeroids owners>> (PureSilver)
Indy Year 25, I apologize for not answering sooner. All you will need is a pump and mounting brackets. We supply the hoses and everything else.
PureSilver, Last time we required a minimum of 10 orders to qualify for a group purchase. I can start another thread to see what kind of interest there is. It looks like we have 2 already so only 8 more to go. The GP deal last time worked out to $1018 total, including shipping. We set a flat rate for shipping and I think the price just for the system was $985. Overall the savings worked out to $173 or so.

What the hell is a steeroid? :)
It's something that you must have for your car. Don't walk, RUN to you wallet and get your credit card. Call us as fast as you can and order a couple of them. You'll feel better.
Re: IMPORTANT announcement for current Steeroids owners>> (BSeery)
There is no problem with running the system manually. The rack gears themselves are lubed with grease (not power steering fluid) so there is no problem there. All the other parts, such as the servo valve, are tested upon reassembly so they will have fluid in them that will lubricate them just fine.
Re: IMPORTANT announcement for current Steeroids owners>> (Speed Direct)
Which rack are you using? A GM J-car rack from the 80s? There should be plenty of them out there that are manual steer only. Might require a different setup for the intermediate shaft though.
Re: IMPORTANT announcement for current Steeroids owners>> (ddecart)
Yep, that's the rack we use but we spec. ours from newer cars because they have quicker ratios and better valving for the power assist. You are correct there should be a lot of manual racks out there and the pinion length will be the same because GM didn't want to re-engineer the steering column or intermediate shaft. I don't know what the ratio would be on a manual rack.
Re: IMPORTANT announcement for current Steeroids owners>> (Speed Direct)
I can probably find out pretty easily what the ratios are for the manual vs. power rack. A manual rack should have a higher ratio than a power, just for the sake of mechanical advantage.
Changing the length of an intermediate shaft is a pretty easy affair. It's likely that there were 2 shafts released, one for power and one for manual.
Re: IMPORTANT announcement for current Steeroids owners>> (Speed Direct)
Speed, I know this wasn't the intent of your post, but reading it caused me to look at your products and I just ordered a Steeroids setup for my Vette. Looking forward to putting it on very much!
Re: IMPORTANT announcement for current Steeroids owners>> (Blue80vette)
I'm glad to hear it, Blue80vette. You were even able to take advantage of our group purchase that is running right now for forum members. Thanks for the order!
Re: IMPORTANT announcement for current Steeroids owners>> (SharkByte)
SharkByte, when did you purchase your kit? You should have already recieved the new bolts if your kit was affected in the service bulletin. If you measure your tierod bracket bolts they should be at least 80mm (3.15 in.) in length (measuring the shank, not the head). If they are 80mm or 85mm then you are fine but if they are 70mm then let us know and we'll get you longer bolts.
I think I would be up for a group purchase. I just bought a 68 vert last weekend . I doesn't have power steering. Would I just have to add a pump and the Steeroid kit, or is there something else I would have to do?
You will need new brackets to mount the pump. If your car is a big block, you will need all new brackets (not sure about SB). You will also need a pulley. BB bracket kit is available from a few vendors (about $250?) and BB pulley is available (about $100).
