Default HELP:Q-jet metering rods question

Figured it out: read next post in thread.

are .045 primary metering rods double taper or single?

According to Lar's paper, they are NOT interchangeable and I only see that size listed as used on '74 and earlier cars. The ones in my car ar double taper. If I only change the jet then my idle and cruise mixture gets changed, which I don't want because the car runs fine in those settings. My W.O.T is the only thing I want to change.

UGH :banghead: I searched all over town for different jets and rods...none to be had. I called Carbs Unlimited because they have the sizes I need, but I am not sure if they are double taper or not and they couldn't tell me! From Lar's jet chart, I need .074 jets and .045 rods to get 10% richer than what I have now.

I finally figured it out. Here's a good link for future reference:
http://www.netspace.net.au/~peterpam/main.htm
Looks like if it is stamped with a "B" it is going to be double taper. Unfortunatley I think I'm going to have order them from Carbs unlimited. I hate to because they weren't very helpful on the phone, and they didn't know if the ones they had were double or single taper. According to the part number they are showing they are SUPPOSED to be double taper.

I just changed from 72 to 74 jets today (rods are 45..... i thought it was followed by the letter "E", but must have been "B"? hard for me to see those itsy bitsy tiny little letters!!!!) This is to compensate for effect of new headers which I havent test driven yet. MJ
