Default VENDORS (rant)

Doesnt anyone give a decent service anymore. I have been trying to get a new steering wheel for months. Corvette central has kept putting me off for weeks at a time, Zip did the same thing, cancelled that one. Now Ecklers, I ordered from them on the 3rd and put rush on ticket, extra of course, and I just called as I havent gotten it yet and was told that it was comming from a different vendor and would not be shipped out until next week. They didnt even bother to contact me to let me know. All of the companies have a take it or leave it attitude. What gives?.........LT :banghead:

Too bad Van Steel doesn't do steering wheels, because Dan is the Man!!! He has totally hooked me up. 1st rate customer service there. Some companies just get too big for their breaches.

Itennell...

It seems that many of the parts places don't have things in their catalogs as of late. Not that I can blame them the way things are going with the economy. I always thought I could get just about any Mr. Gasket product from a supplier, yet it took 3 1/2 weeks for Summit to deliver a simple 1" carb spacer with a PCV valve outlet. I won't blame them as they did tell me that they would have to back order it. But, it was in the catalog, so I expected I could get it in a reasonable amount of time when I called.

I haven't gotten it yet and was told that it was coming from a different vendor and would not be shipped out until next week.

Whats the chance that all the major vendors are using the same supplier????

Inventory is money tied up and in some instances paid for with a commercial line of credit. That means interest is being paid. In a slow-moving economy companies will tend to cut back on inventory and purchase from suppliers on an as-needed basis. I suspect that is what you are encountering.

Just be glad you know the status and that you will get your parts. I can say I have never had a problem with any of the corvette forum vendors even when the parts had to be back ordered . Unlike what I'm going through right now on my Monte Carlo SS parts. I ordered ground effects from an online vendor (not on this forum) and was charged $820 on my charge card on May 27th. After a week I decided to call them to try to get a tracking number, phone has been disconnected so I emailed them, mail returned as their mail box was returned because of a full mail box and I don't even know where they are located  I don't even know if I will every get my parts :banghead:. Thanks forum vendors for being so great

There are only a few companies that make reproduction parts and most of the vendors sell the products through their catalogs. Corvette America is one of the suppliers for many of the vendors for interior parts. When a manufacturer falls behind all of the vendors are behind. I had to get a headlamp open switch once and tried about 10 vendors. finally one of them told me that the manufacturer had a problem with their dies and everyone was waiting for the part to be reproduced.

Your right, I should have said some vendors, Im sure all are not like that. My main point was their total lack of interest. I was expecting to get something right away and they dont even bother to let you know its not even shipped yet a week later. I am in business for myself also and if I had their type of attitude I wouldnt be eating.....................LT  :banghead:
