I realize the word "Corvette" was around long before the car, but I thought G.M. owned the rights for its use?

They do. No one in the automotive industry can touch it. Or anyone wanting to make a product about the car. But if you want to call your new fall line of clothes the Corvette line your're golden as long as it bears no resemblence to the car.
That's a grossly simplified rendition of the laws but that's the general jist of it.

You also have to keep in mind that he is in Australia and their copyrights/trademarks may not apply there unless they also sell Corvettes there (I don't know, I'm just saying).

A corvette can actually be traced back to being an old warship that was small and fast. It was made obsolete by the frigate.

Corvette was a fast attack boat - swift and powerfull. The name was used by the french and some of the Canadian WWII boats where Corvettes.

If you're mowing your lawn and a Corvette drives down your street do you wave at each other?

Of course, but most of these mower guys don't see you because they are talking on the phone. I suspect most of those mowers are leased anyway. ;)

It's the females driving those 4x4 mowers that cut you off that get me. :jester
