Young kids have no idea about older Vettes
I was at one of my favorite spots the other day taking pictures of the 82 when a couple of kids ride by on their bikes. They cruise past a couple of times but never say anything. Finally, one stops at the back of the car and I hear him read "Corvette". Then he goes over to the other one and says "it's a Corvette". The other one replies with "Wow, the new Vettes are awsome." C3's are truly timeless.

This is just like a story I've shared here before. When I pick my son up from school its the '69 vert that gets more attention than the Z06. Now, I am surprised as many of these grade-school kids even _know_ the difference b/w a Z06 and the coupe/vert C5 (and they do!)...but the C3 just stops the bicycle traffic, if you know what I mean. :)

Was talking with some of my neighbors about my cars and everyone said they thought I had sold the vette (or blue one if they didn't know what it was) when I bought the Formula but all where happy to hear I didn't. People just love a c-3 even if they don't know what it is. :)

Last weekend I was washing the Vette and a mother with her 5 yr old walks by....the kid says "look mom, it's a Mustang". So I start laughing....the mother corrects him right away and tells him it's a Corvette. His reply: "WOW that's even better than a Mustang, we should tell Dad to buy one of those".
Shows that even at 5 yrs of age, they know what's better... :chevy

Even with a basically 15 year old paint job, custom though it is/was....I get more stares than most any other car from age 6-60, all the time stopped and looked at, parking lots, streets, kids on bikes, adults....I sort of got used to it over the last 7 years....
Yeh, you right, it used to **** off an old vette friend, with his ZR1, here he had the faster car, but I got the car show attention....

True!! Young kids (pre teens) seem in awe when I drive by, like it looks like some kind of "toy car" but they just aren't sure what! Always get the "thumbs up" and a "nice car!". The fact they may not know the year/make but do know it's "cool" is what counts! I get a kick out of their reaction!

The cool thing about owning an old vette at 17 is that everyone loves them, your fellow students AND your teachers ;)

Young kids have no idea about older Vettes !
And, apparently my kids' friends parents do, too !!
I have a parts car in the driveway. No front clip, no bumper in back, no
Ttops, with a car cover and then a tarp over it.
Parent asks my wife, "Is that a Corvette ??"
Kim says, "Yeah, but the good one is in the garage."
(jealous look from parent)
HAHA - they are POSs - but still draw envy.

It's one of the joys of owning one, it doesn't seem to matter if their 101 or 5 it gets the looks.
I get as many "thats beautiful" and thumbs up from people in their 70's as I do from younger kids.

Older vettes always attract more attention newer vettes are a dime a dozen. Very nice but everywhere

I drive thru like 6 school zones on my way to work. Kids love older vettes.
Guys pointing at the car out of the school buses, yelling "now that's a cool car", and "wow I am going to have a car like that.." I know it's just kids, but it makes you feel good. I remember doing that when I was a kid, too.
I think it's because the C3's body is just so dang distinctive, and just screams "total sports car". Nothing else like it. I never got those kinds of comments with my C4.

I had the day off last Friday and happened to drive by a public school at 3:30 when they were getting out, nothing gives me more of a kick that an 8 year old little girl stopping dead in her tracks on the sidewalk, her jaw drops wide open and points her finger a my Vette as I drive by.

I think the sharks are the only ones that get attention the way that vipers do. My wife and I grew up in the c-3 years. Even after having the zr-1 and the 76, the first time she saw a c-2 she did not know it was a vette.
