Default "Donut" Spare

OK....so say I follow mg62's lead and buy TTII's with the following size:
17x8's, the bolt circle is 5-bolt, 4.75 inch and the backspacing is 4 inch.

Where would one go to find a solid "donut" type of spare that fits in the spare tire carrier? OR would my existing 15 spare get me a few miles in an emergency

Thanks
JimBRO

No reason why you couldn`t use one of the exisiting tires as a spare. These cars came with full size spare, Donuts came later.

How old is your spare compared ot your current tires? Might want to keep a current tire so you can still drive as far as needed at faster than 45 mph.

Try and get a spare that is the same diameter of the rear tires. If its not, and you get a flat on the rear, I would move one of the front tires to the rear, and put the spare on the front. The problem with runnung different diameter tires on the rear is it will cause excessive wear on the pinion gears and posi clutches, since the different diameter tires on the rear will force the differtentail to be constantly operating to make up the difference of the distances from each revolution of differtent size tires. Not an issue on the front since the front tire operate totally independent of each other.

worst than that, different size tires on the rear will wear out your side yokes. This is the most vunerable part of the rear end.

For emergencies up to 50 miles at low speeds, try the donut and swap your C3 tire carrier with a C4 carrier that was built for donuts.
